New Year´s resolution

We are welcoming 2009 and the word crisis appears in every conversation about the new year. In this blog, we refuse to start the year in such a pessimistic way and prefer to think about 2009 as a year of opportunities. The opportunity to live a simpler and more responsible life.
And so, our New Year resolution for 2009 is to accept responsibility and think about the consequences of every single action and decision we take, however small it seems at the time. It´s the first step to start saving the world.

Propósitos de Año nuevo

Le damos la bienvenida al 2009, e, inevitablemente, la palabra crisis aparece en cada conversación sobre el nuevo año. En este blog, nos negamos a empezar el año de manera tan negativa, y nos planteamos el 2009 como un año de oportunidades, y muy especialmente, la oportunidad de aprender a vivir de manera más simple y más responsable.
Nuestra resolución para el 2009 es precisamente aceptar responsabilidad y pensar en las consecuencias de cada una de las acciones y decisiones que tomamos, por pequeñas que parezcan. Es el primer paso para salvar el mundo.

Estamos de vacaciones hasta la primera semana de enero, cuando empezaremos de nuevo con nuestras ideas semanales para una vida más verde. Disfrutad de unas Navidades sin excesos!

Presents, presents

With Christmas approaching, we are all thinking of shopping and presents. Let’s think a bit more. When we buy cards, why not find some hand made ones or buy the ones produced by a NGO, so all the money can go to finance their programmes? When buying presents, let’s look at how the object was made, how the company that makes them treats its workforce, where do they have factories, how many plane miles it used to bring the product to you… When shopping for Christmas dinner, why not buy in local shops, rather than big supermarkets, why not get natural or organic products?

Let´s think, because, sometimes, something as small as this can really make a difference to “save the world”

Regalos, regalos

Se acercan las Navidades y ya todos estamos pensando en compras y regalos. Pensemos un poco más. A la hora de comprar tarjetas de felicitación, ¿por qué no comprar tarjetas hechas a mano? ¿O las que vende alguna organización humanitaria, de manera que puedan usar el dinero para sus programas? Cuando compremos regalos, hagamos un esfuerzo por averiguar cómo se han producido, cómo trata la compañía que los produce a sus trabajadores, dónde tiene fábricas, cuántas millas de avión se han gastado en hacer llegar ese regalo hasta la tienda... Cuando hagamos la compra para la comida de navidad, ¿por qué no compramos en tiendas locales, en vez de en grandes supermercados? ¿Por qué no compramos productos naturales u orgánicos?

Pensemos, porque, a veces, un pequeño acto como estos, marcara la diferencia para “salvar el mundo”
